Description

The butterfly valves manufactured by Fluent Valves are quarter-turn flow control devices that use a rotating disc to regulate, isolate, or modulate fluid flow. In the fully open position, the disc is parallel to flow, offering minimal obstruction; when closed, the disc turns perpendicular to block the flow.

Our valves come in multiple design variants including centric, wafer type, lugged type, flanged type, dual offset, and triple offset. Double- or triple-offset designs reduce friction and enhance sealing in demanding media and conditions. We also provide metal-to-metal sealing options for abrasive or high-temperature services.

Butterfly valves can be mounted with manual lever/gear actuators or automated via pneumatic or electric actuators, thanks to the ISO 5211 top mounting flange compatibility. We also offer features like bidirectional sealing, locking arrangements, position indicators, and stellited seat surfaces for extended life.

Because of their compact design, quick actuation, and relatively low cost, these valves are widely accepted in water treatment, HVAC, gas, chemical, and many other industries.

Features

  • Compact & Lightweight Construction - ideal for limited space installations
  • Quarter-Turn Operation - fast opening and closing
  • Bidirectional Sealing - effective in both flow directions
  • Multiple Design Options - wafer, lugged, flanged, double/triple offset
  • ISO 5211 Mounting - eases actuator integration
  • Tight Shut-Off - minimal leakage by design
  • Cost-Efficient at Large Sizes - simpler construction vs other valves
  • Versatile Material Options - for corrosive, high temp or special media

Applications

Fluent Valves’ butterfly valves find broad use in:

  • Water & Wastewater Treatment (valve isolation and control)
  • HVAC (air, chilled water, heating systems)
  • Chemical & Petrochemical Plants (corrosive and general fluid service)
  • Oil & Gas Pipelines (isolation, on/off control)
  • Gas Distribution Systems
  • Food & Beverage (sanitary applications)
  • Industrial Process Lines in various sectors

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions about our butterfly valves:

Ball Valve

  • Wafer type is sandwiched between flanges, economical and lightweight.
  • Lugged type has threaded lugs allowing one-side removal.
  • Flanged type includes full flanges for bolting, suitable for heavy-duty and higher pressure systems.

Yes, especially in double or triple offset designs. However, centric designs are mainly for on/off service; throttling may cause wear.

Manual (lever or gear), electric actuator, pneumatic actuator. Thanks to ISO 5211 mounting, actuators can be mounted directly

Yes - with appropriate material choice (stainless steel, alloys) and sealing surfaces (metal, special coatings), they can handle harsh environments

Sizes from small diameters (e.g., 2″ or DN50) up to large diameters (possibly 48″ or more) depending on design.Pressure classes aligned with flange standards (150# RF and above) and matched to design specs

Yes - our designs meet tight shut-off criteria per standards (API 598 / BS EN 12266-1), ensuring minimal leakage
